What is your favorite candy or dessert?

Hmmmm....

I'm not a big fan of candy, but chocolate-covered pretzels are really yummy. Stuff made with peanut butter (Reece's Pieces, etc.) also works great for me.

Desert? Bread pudding, if it's made properly. Tiramisu. Or anything swimming in dark chocolate.

What’s that one song that always reminds you of the one that got away?

The Weight Of The Wind, by A-Ha. Both for the subject matter of the song and the fact that I was seriously into that album at the time we dated.

No more anonymous comments

January 18th, 2011 (09:59 am)

I'm getting comments from spammers. (Read that as "scum sucking rat-bags that should all be killed, hung, drawn, quartered, boiled and then fed to a pack of rabid yaks.") I delete them as they come in, but it's getting to be a pain in the neck.

So, as of now, I'm disabling anonymous posting. If you want to comment, create an LJ account or use one of the other LJ-supported ID systems.

If you really want to post something anonymously, then perhaps you should re-think your comment. If you want to say something that might get you in trouble, then you probably shouldn't be saying it in a public forum at all.

Man quits job, makes living suing e-mail spammers

Daniel Balsam hates spam. Most everybody does, of course. But he has acted on his hate as few have, going far beyond simply hitting the delete button. He sues them.

...

Balsam settles enough lawsuits and collects enough from judgments to make a living. He has racked up well in excess of $1 million in court judgments and lawsuit settlements with companies accused of sending illegal spam.

So when will Time name him man of the year?

An Interview With The Nativity Innkeeper

...
The baby is born, right? And then these guys show up. And they say, we have brought gifts for the child. And I say, that’s nice, what did you bring. And they say, we have brought gold and frankincense and myrrh. And I say, you’ve got to be kidding.

What’s wrong with that?

Let me quote another Christmas song for you. “A child, a child, shivers in the cold, let us bring him silver and gold.” Really? Silver and gold? And not, oh, I don’t know, a blanket? An newborn infant is exhibiting signs of possible hypothermia and your response is to give him cold metal objects? Who ever wrote that song needs a smack upside the head

After deciding once and for all that Facebook is far too much of a time-suck, and that their habit of removing stuff I like to use is making the site less and less fun, I've disabled my account. Maybe I'll turn it back on again someday. Or maybe not.

If you're interested in reading my silly stuff (comics, humor articles, etc.) that I've been posting there, you can find them here.

If you're interested in reading my serious stuff (mostly political rants, occasional bits of tech news), you may find that over on my blogspot page
